While tasseled earrings should still hold an important place in your rotating cast of summer accessories, the latest jewelry trend is a little more subtle. Resin tortoiseshell earrings are cropping up all over Instagram, available at retailers both high and low. Don’t worry, those bright tassels aren’t going anywhere, but if you’re looking for a more subtle earring with just a touch of the 80s vibes, shop my favorites above from Urban Outfitters (currently on sale for $30!) and a few more options below.

Living in Brooklyn means I only have room for two seasons in my closet at any one time—either fall/winter or spring/summer. So as soon as the temperature for the weeks ahead started climbing into the 60s, I set aside a Sunday to do my biannual closet season switch. Ever since then and even after I’ve healed, I have to sleep on my right side…sleeping on my left means I wake up with an aching arm and shoulder. Unfortunately for me, our bedroom window is on the right—meaning I woke up the second the sun came up.READ MORE
Every year, crowds descend on the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to see the 75 trees on the Cherry Esplanade bloom into a riot of pink. Because cherry blossom trees only remain in flower for a week, the window of opportunity to see them is very narrow. This year, I made it my goal to see them bloom—and it was well-worth the trip.
Welcome to my book of the month column, where I recommend my couldn’t-put-it-down read of the month. Need more book recommendations? Find them here. Happy reading!
When my friends suggested a book club themed solely around murder mystery/thriller/true crime novels, I was immediately in. Appropriately christened the “F**ked Up Fiction Book Club,” Leila Slimani’s The Perfect Nanny became our April read.READ MORE
